After a thanksgiving service at the church, the ‘Lekki Wives’ actress was joined by her friends and colleagues in the entertainment industry to party with the celebrant, who was born in the early 80’s.

Nollywood Yoruba actor, Ebun Oloyede, aka Ebun Olaiya Igwe, has expressed his willingness to go back to school in order to keep himself abreast with time.

According to the actor, who is now more as a producer and director, his low academic standard is attributed to his poor background because there was no finance for him to be sent to school by his parents.

“I am from a poor home, my father was a farmer, while my mother was selling Beans and Rice, just for the family to survive. So as such, they were not able to send me to school,” the actor said in a monitored programme by Nigeriafilms
Igwe further added that due to schedule, he plans to go back to school in order to upgrade himself.

“I plan on going back to school soonest. I don’t mind if I sit in the same class with my son. He is there to learn, likewise myself too, he said.”

We Are Still Together As ‘Danfo Drivers’ Despite My Solo Career—Man Melon Yells

Much might not have been heard from this talented duo of the Danfo Drivers. But recently, we were surprised to see a new album from one of the member of the group Azubuike Henry Oghenemairo aka Mad Melon. In this interview, he tells Nigeriafilms.com what has been happening and their struggle in the music industry.

Tell us about yourself?

My name is Azubuike Henry Oghenemairo aka Mad Melon, born in Lagos on the 27th of Sept, 1977. I am from Asaba Ase in Ndokwa East LGA, Delta State. 

What led to your break up with your co-singer?

There is no break up, both of us are still together as Danfo Drivers. Mountain Black is still my partner, friend and also my brother. But this is my solo album entitled ‘Back In D Days’. It is just my own project, so when the time comes, both of us will do a group album. 

All along, we were still in the game musically. In 2009, we released an album titled ‘New Chapter’ and in 2011, we released another album titled ‘Back 2 Sender’ for two different record labels. Both record labels refused to promote the albums and we did not shoot videos of the songs. Though, we did a video of a song in the ‘New Chapter’ album titled ‘Meshango’, but the video was not promoted. So, both albums were not successful and it prompted our fans to believe we were out of music.

What is the name of your new record label and the name of the manager?

My new label is Globedisk Music, owned by Obi Nweke, but my management is D' Ark Entertainment, which is owned by Itiveh Michael Noah.

Who are the artistes on the record label too?

Other recognised artistes in the label are African China and Proffessor Linkin aka Jogodo.

What is the title of your new single?

Our new album project is called ‘Back In D Days’ and it contains 10 tracks. It has songs like ‘Back In D Days’, which is also the album title, ‘Kanyi Gba Egwu’, ‘We Go Dey’, ‘Wetin Dey (Ghetto Song)’, ‘Dey Well’, ‘Topom (Burkina Faso) Ololufemi, Gbemi Ga’, ‘Me Sha Dey Go’ and ‘Gbangan’. 

Are you still single or married now?

I am still single, but with two kids; a son and a daughter by a lady but the relationship didn't work out between us. 

How would you rate the music industry before and now?

The industry has improved a lot and it's still improving, but we'll get there someday. Our government should assist in the fight against piracy. Mad Melon say so.

Omotola Storms ‘TIME 100’ Gala In Red Iconic Invanity Dress (Photos)

Beautiful Nollywood star actress, Omotola Jolade-Ekeinde, popularly known as Omosexy, dapped in a long red dress, was present at the TIME 100 Gala, which held at the Lincoln Center in New York City on Tuesday, the 29th of April.

A tribute in honour of Dangote was written by Microsoft Founder and Co-Chair, Bill and Melinda Gates, in commemoration of his listing by the Time Magazine.

Aliko, who had earlier been listed as the 64th most powerful person in the world by the credible Forbes Magazine, was acknowledged in the Titans category, which boasts of eminent world personalities like Hillary Clinton (former USA secretary of State), Jeff Bezoz, Tony Fadell, Janet Yellen among others.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was listed amongst others in the Leaders category, while American actress, Kerry Marisa Washington-Asomugha, who married former America-based Nigerian football cornerback, Nnamdi Asomugha, was listed in the artists’ category.

Others include; Pope Francis, Marina Abramovic, Cristiano Ronaldo who were listed among the Icon Category and President Barack Obama (an honoree himself) praising his Holiness for ‘His message of love and inclusion’ and having ‘inspired us all’ by example.

I Like My Skin The Way God Made It—Actress Accused Of Bleaching, Thelma O’khaz Speaks

Some months ago, the blogosphere was boiling with the news reports that Nollywood actress-cum-singer, Thelma O’Khaz bleached her skin. This rumour came after her supposedly ‘before and after’ picture hit the internet, which showed a sharp contrast of her skin colour.

She was lambasted for that and many thought she may have used a bleaching skin to change her skin colour from chocolate to ‘white’.

In a chat with Naijatulk.com, Thelma explained to us that she never bleached her skin as many had insinuated. She stressed that she is “Naturally a light skinned person and I enjoy my body the way God had created me,” adding that, “I didn’t bleach [my skin] and I have no apology for that.”

Explaining what happened in the said viral picture, Thelma said that, “I take a lot of pictures and play with skin tone on my pictures. A producer got in touch with me in December (2013) and asked me to take pictures and brighten them up for a poster of a film, which I did and gave him a copy.

“I then displayed the others on Facebook and Twitter, and the next thing I got was some jobless bloggers saying rubbish about me bleaching. Well, they can continue because I will not stop taking pictures with different colour tones as it is what I like. Who knows, I may decide to make it pink or green.” 

Continuing, Thelma pointed out that, “first, I was just laughing but when I found out that over 40 blogs carried it, I was just shocked and got upset. I am human. That was when I went to Twitter to say ‘my nose doesn’t fit my new white skin, haters should send Dr. 90210’s number, ‘money no be problem.’”

Speaking further on the controversial picture, Thelma told Naijatulk.com, that “[I took the] dark one at Debin Studio in Aguda (Surulere, Lagos)and I told them to make it brown like a chocolate colour.”

When asked if she would still do the same stunt, Thelma answered, “I will still do it when I feel like. These pictures are studio photographs and we play a lot with skin tones and I will still do more.”

She lamented that she was initially shocked by the development because she had trusted her man, but decided to move on without having any other man in her life since then. 

“During our years of courtship and marriage, I never thought we could just break up like that or anything could ever come between us. Back then he told me everything. I could tell you where he was at every moment; I trusted him so much,” she said.

Speaking on why she has remained unmarried since the incident occurred, Rachael said, “I believe so much in myself, and when I got over the shock of the separation and all that, I made up my mind that I was going to make a statement without a man. I wanted to prove that a hardworking woman could make an impact and with God’s grace.”

Rachael advised women to “believe in yourself and with hard work, you will get there. God is always faithful. I killed my emotions and I said to myself ‘Rachael, your kids must go to the best schools.’ It was just work and my children.”

EFCC May Shut Laide Bakare’s Lagos Boutique Over Hubby’s N2.5b Fraud Mess

Laide Bakare may not be in the best of moods at the moment, especially when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is after her ‘ATM’ husband, Tunde Orilowo over an alleged N2.5billion fraud.

Recall that recently, it was reported that Mr. Orilowo was being wanted by the EFCC, but the man debunked the reports, stating that he would drag the anti-graft body to court. If the latest development is anything to go by, it means Laide Bakare’s husband is just a toothless and clawless lion that is just roaring, but can’t do a rat anything.

From information gathered from various online reports, the boutique Mr. Oriolowo opened for the actress may be closed soon as the EFCC has got a court order to confiscate all Orilowo’s known properties. 

Also recall that Laide Bakare’s marriage to Orilowo was not without controversies as her former hubby accused her of infidelity. The man then challenged Laide to submit herself for a DNA to authenticate the paternity of their only daughter together.

PUBLICIST BREAK SILENCE: ‘P-Square’s Break Up Tale Was A Stunt!’

While you are reading this, the entire social media scene has been awash with several versions of rumours concerning Nigeria's sensational singing twins, P-Square and their elder brother, Jude Enges Okoye.

However, the rumour according to ICON Weekly's private investigation was founded on assumptions and fabrications, following a controversial tweet by Jude, elder brother to the Okoye twins. The tweet, which was dropped on Friday April 18, 2014 at 1:57p.m. reads: “After over 10 years of hard work, it’s over, I’m done.”

The tweet which was not hooked on any subject raised a huge dust as bloggers feasted on it and gave it several interpretations without making out time to do some findings.

As the day went by, more and more interpretations kept hitting the blogsphere.

Things eventually took a new turn, when on Friday, April 25, 2014, the brothers took to their twitter accounts to drop a tweet indicating that they have finally resolved their differences.

In a bid to get the true picture of the scenario, ICON Weekly reporter contacted P-Square's publicist, Mr. Bayo Adetu, who gave us the complete story. The furious Adetu expressed disappointment on members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm whom after a professional training would depend solemnly on bloggers for content. Here is how he narrated it to our reporter exclusively on the phone, read on:

Greetings, Bayo, we heard that the Okoye brothers have finally reconciled, can you give us an insight on what really happened?

(After a long laugh…) “My brother, I'm telling you this as a friend, there was no fight at all. The whole thing started after Jude tweeted some days back and bloggers feasted on it and gave it several interpretations which never existed, and that was how we got here.

“Are you saying there wasn't a fight at all, how then did Peter and Paul keep releasing comments through their Facebook accounts?

“My guy, I can authoritatively tell you that neither of the P-Square brothers, nor even Jude operate their Facebook accounts anymore. Whatever Facebook posted was from an impersonator, pretending to be anyone of them. P-Square is active on twitter, not on Facebook, so you see, the whole thing was founded on lies.

“If what you are saying is true, why did they all tweet a re-conciliatory tweet this morning indicating that they have mended fences?

“There's one thing you should know, P-Square are not politicians, and neither are they businessmen to be worried about what one useless blogger or the other has to say about them.

“In this game, bad publicity is good publicity. When we read those funny posts, we decided to play along with the general public and what they were meant to believe.

“Yesterday, Thursday, April 24, 2014 was Jude Okoye's birthday and he also used the opportunity to propose to his girlfriend while we laughed at the stupidity of some Nigerian bloggers.

“We later decided to further play into their hands by reaching a consensus to tweet what they have termed the 'reconciliation tweet'. 

“However as a journalist, I am pained that trained journalists allow themselves to be remoted by Linda Ikeji, a mere blogger without any professional training to stall them from investigating serious news material like this. These days, immediately Linda posts anything on her blog, journalists just go there and copy and paste the story without any checks and balances, it is outrightly wrong, I'm really upset about this.

“She called me after posting the story and I just decided to ignore her calls, because I didn't think we had anything more to say when the milk has been spilt. 

“I have taken my time to explain to you this way because you are a friend and did not join the bandwagon. 

“As for those bloggers out there, I allowed them to write whatever they like; after all, they are consuming their internet data, not mine.”

Tragedy! As Nollywood loses 3 practitioners in 1 week!

It’s another gloomy week in Nollywood as three practitioners pass away after suffering from varied health issues.

Practitioners in Nollywood are currently mourning the deaths of Chris Nkulor, who lost the battle of life after suffering from kidney related issues, Greg Inawodoh and Chrisphina Adinusor.

While Chris and Chrisphina were acted in various home vidoes before their deaths, Greg was known for his directing skills in movies like Munachi, The heart of men, Bleeding tree, Egwonga, Ugomma goes to school, and Make me a widow.

Further investigations showed that Chrisphina Adinusor died of a cardiac arrest during a visit to Lagos last month.

‘It is sad that we have lost another actress. We are trying our best to help her family in whatever way we can,’ Ugochukwu Orikoha, Chairman of the Port Harcourt chapter of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria sadly noted.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Lagos chapter of the guild, Moji Oyetayo, also confirmed the deaths while mourning the acts.

Cossy Ojiakor With Mother To Do Music Collabo Soon

Forget about all the notoriety that actress and singer Cosy Ojiakor has garnered over the years, she is also a passionate human being who wants to love and be loved.

“My mum actually has a first degree in music from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and a master’s degree in Mass Communication. I grew up amidst pianos and guitars in my parents’ house and more so, my mum sings,” Cossy says.

“I have a studio in the house and I have been told I have a good voice. My mum did not contribute to the scoring of the songs on my album even though we were supposed to work on a song together. She works with the Immigration Service so she has no time. But when we eventually do, it has to be a very good song, probably a mother and daughter song.”
